Diet soda can be the best friend of a woman trying to lose a little weight but wanting to keep some flavor in her diet. However a recent study by Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston found that women who drink two or more diet sodas per day double the chance of their kidney function declining.

For those of you who would like to receive the benefits of red wine but don’t want the alcohol (or simply do not like red wine), there may be a tasty alternative: chocolate milk. Chocolate lovers can celebrate in the new findings that suggest that skim milk flavored with cocoa may be effective in reducing inflammation, and as a consequence, slow the progression of atherosclerosis much in the same way that red wine is believed to.

The next time you’re out having a bite to eat, you might want to consider foods made with curry, especially in light of a recent discovery that a molecule in turmeric, which gives curry its distinctive yellow color, has the ability to kill esophageal cancer cells. The findings, published in the recent edition of the British Journal of Cancer, may lead to the development of anti-cancer therapies.

We've known it all along, but research at recent obesity conference says the least healthy breakfast cereals are the ones most aggressively marketed to children. Wow. Big surprise. The rabbit selling pretty cereal hasn't fooled anyone for a long time. What might still surprise you are some of the other things the research highlighted.

Most of us have heard, at one time or another, of the supposed health benefits from drinking a moderate amount of alcohol, especially red wine. One of the biggest reasons that walnuts in particular are so good for us is because they are the only nut that is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are important for many of our normal bodily functions, including neural cell development and blood clotting. Since they are not produced by our bodies, we must obtain them from the foods we eat.
