Many runners enjoy the fast pace, and may shun other types of workouts in favor of more running. Yoga may seem to slow and pointless. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. The benefits of yoga include both strength and flexibility, which can bring balance to the runners’ first love.

Researchers now believe that regular participation in yoga exercises may reduce the level of inflammation in our bodies. Researchers out of the University of California, at Los Angeles (U.C.L.A.) have found that regular participation in yoga may help to prevent or alleviate symptoms of kyphosis, or hunched back, whereby the upper portion of the spine (thoracic) is curved by at least 40-45 degrees.
